Leon is a genetically engineered Maine Coon with opposable thumbs and the power of speech. He’s a huge fan of noir detective movies, which helps when he is taken from his mother and siblings at a very young age and indentured to Security at Gamma Station as an undercover cop until he works off the cost of his creation. While he’s always looking for ways to get back to his family, he can’t help getting caught up in the cases that plague Gamma Station and building relationships with the people and other cats that populate it.
Spatz is what we would consider a stray cat. She lives in the warehouse, hunting mice and generally staying away from people. She’s had a hard life and her body shows it. Thought not pretty, Spatz is a loyal friend and mentor to young Leon.
Butch is a large, muscular orange tabby cat. His human, Tammy, owns the Tea Shoppe on the Rotunda. He is a streetwise cat, having come from the warehouse himself. Now his life is one of leisure and he likes it, but he still takes time to prowl the rotunda and keep up on things. He takes Leon under his wing and shows him the ropes.
Leila is a Burmese who has been genetically enhanced to be an accessory for the stylish of women. She can change her coloring to match any piece of clothing. Though she is high class and has never been exposed to the seedy side of the station (and doesn’t really think much of mousers), she is attracted to Leon.
Devon is Leon’s human partner. The last thing Devon wants is to be stuck with a cat, especially one as intelligent and pig-headed as Leon, but he has to admit, the cat knows how to break a case. In spite of himself, Devon is getting to like Leon and to think of him as his partner.
