The name’s Leon.
You’re right, I’m not your typical undercover agent. Yeah, I’m a cat, but that’s not what I mean.
See, I’m a modified; specially engineered to be highly intelligent, adaptable, and tolerant of unusual environments. It’s that and the physical enhancements – specialized tongue, opposable thumbs – that make me worth the ridiculous amount that Gamma Station Security spent to commission me.
Of course, I didn’t know any of this at first. Living in the lab with my siblings and Ma (that’s what I call my birth mother, because that’s what she says all the time), I just thought I was big for my age, not actually a different species.
I also thought it was normal to spend hours watching the holo feeds, though Ma and the sibs weren’t much interested in them. The fact that the staff nudged me toward
detective shows and movies and investigative documentaries didn’t register on me as any kind of plan.
I just thought they were trying to keep me entertained.
That all changed the day Chief Wright showed up at the lab…
